“James Huck... Painter of portraits and landscapes in
oil, pastel and watercolour. Early days were spent in Galashiels.
In 1900 went to Glasgow, studied at Glasgow School of Art
winning a Haldane Scholarship and a traveling bursary which
enabled him to visit France and Italy. Shortly after returning
appointed to the staff of Glasgow School of Art, becoming Assistant
Director 1926, retired 1938. Member, Glasgow Art Club. His
Landscapes were mainly of the Western Isles, Iona and the Scottish
borders around his home...”
